Relax While Camping on a Good Camping Chair

Roughing it does not have to be so rough if you have a good camping chair. Part of the appeal of camping, is the opportunity to relax and get away from the rush of everyday life. Comfortable camping chairs help you in this pursuit.

Chairs that are designed just for camping are portable, sturdy and much more comfortable than ordinary folding lawn chairs. They are usually made of a strong canvas material, with a sturdy metal frame. Whether you are eating, reading, fishing, or just sitting and looking at the stars, the right chair makes the experience even better. When you are through, just fold them up and they stow away very nicely. Folded camping chairs take up very little space, and usually come with a convenient carrying bag. They are very lightweight and easy to carry.

Keep Your Butt Off the Ground in a Camping Chair

Having extra equipment like special chairs may seem like an unnecessary luxury on a camping trip, but wouldn't your family or group rather sit on well-made camping chairs than on the damp ground, a sharp rock or hard tree stumps?

Camping is not as fun if the seat of your pants is always damp. This could make all the difference, especially if your group includes fussy teenagers, or older campers who have a hard time getting up off the ground. Good quality camping chairs make everyone on the trip feel more comfortable.

They now come in a variety of styles and colors. Some sit low to the ground. These camping chairs are great for fishing or cooking over an open fire. They help keep you from having to bend or stoop over a lot. You can fish all day from one of these camping chairs, then move it close to the fire to roast marshmallows and tell ghost stories to the kids.

Some models have weight restrictions. Larger people need to watch for this feature. They should look for camping chairs with a sturdy, broad frame. There are specially companies that manufacture camping equipment for the larger, heavier camper. Better safe then sorry.

Some of the options available with camping chairs are:

  • cushioned seats
  • cushioned arm rests
  • cup holders
  • side pockets
  • recliners
  • footstools

The level of comfort that you seek is up to you. Child-sized camping chairs are great for the little ones, but don't let them get too close to the fire. Some kids' chairs tip easily, especially if the child gets excited and moves around a lot.

After your camping trip your chairs may be cleaned with soap and warm water. Some can be removed from the frame and thrown right into the washer. Hang them on the line to drip dry. When camping season is over, use your chairs as extra seating during the holidays or family gatherings. As a final note, I speak from personal experience when I say to make sure the whole family has a camping chair that they like or else yours will be swept from under you.
